IRANIAN RESISTANCE/ “No to bombs and external interference, a peaceful transition is needed, here’s how”

No to war, no to appeasement towards the regime. The Iranian resistance has an alternative and appeals to the international community

No dialogue with the regime and no war. To liberate Iran there is a third way forward, the one indicated by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (CNRI): the current power group must be isolated also at an international level to promote a peaceful transition, observes Ghazal Afshar , an Iranian resident in Italy, spokesperson for the association of Young Iranians, in which the people say which country they want and not external forces that act according to their interests and not those of the people.

Opponents of the ayatollahs who draw on the experience of their parliament in exile are coming forward and demanding a bloodless solution to the Iranian crisis, just as the US and Israel are preparing to drop the most powerful bombs to damage Iran's nuclear sites. With Trump urging them to surrender and Khamenei responding that he will never do so.

What does the Iranian opposition think about the war started by Israel?

I speak on behalf of the Association of Iranian Youth, which has always supported the CNRI. Since the beginning of this latest conflict that has broken out in the region, we have reiterated that the option cannot be between appeasement with the regime and war, because there is a third way that is more than viable, the one presented for twenty years now by the president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Maryam Rajavi. A way that recognizes the struggle of the Iranian people and their resistance against every form of dictatorship, both the previous one of the Shah and the current one of the mullahs, on the basis of a ten-point plan presented in 2006 to the Council of Europe.

What does the plan include?

Among the key points are the establishment of a Republic based on the separation of religion and state, gender equality, the abolition of the death penalty: the regime is the record holder of capital executions . We want a non-nuclear and peaceful Iran.

How do you want to achieve these points materially? Do you demand that Israel stop attacking?

This is a war that was started as a result of the regime's actions, but the main war that is being fought in our country is not between the regime and Israel, but between the regime and the Iranian people. We do not want to focus on what an external force that attacked should do, but on the need to consider the alternative that is the National Council of Resistance of Iran, a kind of parliament in exile, with committees, that has a network of supporters inside the country.

How do you bring down Khamenei and his power group?

We do not want external interference because the actors involved would be pursuing their own interests, which have nothing to do with the struggle of our people. We simply ask to isolate the current regime, to put aside attempts at dialogue and those to try to reform it. And to include the Revolutionary Guard Corps in the terrorist list.

So you want the international community to recognize the NCRI as the legitimate government?

The international community must no longer recognize the regime as an interlocutor, but turn to the National Council of Resistance of Iran. We do not want weapons, money, or power, but only to isolate a regime that is vulnerable.

So, is yours a non-violent path, which only involves the use of diplomatic “weapons”?

Exactly. Let's think of a peaceful and democratic transition, which does not involve bloodshed for bombs that, willingly or not, still lead to the indiscriminate death of civilians. From whomever they come. The problem is to understand why we have arrived at this point, after decades of compliance with the regime, which have allowed repression to be organized by exporting terrorism. The CNRI also has the merit of having unmasked for the first time in 2002 the secret nuclear facilities of the Iranian regime, to which was added the creation of missiles with a range of over 3,000 kilometers, which could reach the heart of Europe.

What will happen now? Will the Israelis and Americans attack the country even deeper?

Let's hope there is no escalation because it only means the loss of more innocent lives. In the last month there have been 150 executions, an average of one every two hours: it means that the regime realizes that it is at the end of its tether and is therefore defending itself tooth and nail to avoid collapsing. However, since the world began, wars conducted by foreign forces have never solved the problem.
